About this project
A full home renovation and extension in one of Melbourne's most established inner-east pockets, Hawthorn 8 saw Demardi take on both the interior design and the build, reworking a classic residence into a warm, considered and functional family home. The brief called for a contemporary refresh that respected the home's original character while creating a new open-plan kitchen, meals and living space spilling out to the outdoor entertainment area. A carefully curated palette selected for both warmth and mood creates a sense of welcome throughout the home. Skylights flood the space with natural light, enhancing the depth and richness of the darker palette.
The brief called for a contemporary refresh that respected the home's original character. A softened palette of natural timbers, honed stone and layered neutrals carries through every room, while joinery, lighting and finishes were detailed in-house to keep the interior and the build moving in lockstep.
